Edison fifth-graders put a year's worth of music and dance instruction on display at Tydings Auditorium April 30 when they performed Edison Live.

On a day that also featured the Hobbs girls and boys track team in action as well as the baseball team, golfer Braden Ray won the individual title at the Ocotillo Invitational.

They were nominated by former students, parents and co-workers as outstanding in their profession. HMS public information officer Starla Jones, right, also was honored with a director's award for her help in promoting the teachers and district. There were high fives all around when Hobbs beat Carlsbad in extra innings on April 23 to remain in the lead for the district title.

Hundreds of students decked out in their finest duds, went out to eat, then kicked up their heels at the Hobbs High School prom on April 20.




Civil warCollege Lane fifth-graders spent a week studying Civil War history, then put on a play on April 19 that included some of its more important moments.



tennisThe boys and girls tennis team was in action on April 12 and April 18 during the Porter/Baker Invitational and a match against Lovington.





shatteredIt was only two days before prom when HHS and FHS students witnessed a drunken driver accident re-enactment aimed at keeping them safe during upcoming end-of-school activities.


student staffHHS students and teachers faced off against one another during a basketball game on April 11 that raised money for several causes - the Eagle Trust Foundation and the backpack program. Students easily beat their older counterparts.

Kennedy Sims got the win when Lady Eagles softball players beat Midland Christian 7-6 with a walk-off homerun on April 9.

HMS Supt. gives Ethan Evans a certificate of achievement for completing the 521 healthy Kids Challenge. Evans was among 30 Jefferson third-graders to complete the challenge, a record for the district.

Students were among some of the most enthusiastic participants when Stone Elementary staged its Famly Fun-Run & acution on April 6.
