Hobbs Municipal Schools

A total of 22 bilingual spellers from elementary and junior high school competed in the Feb. 28 Spanish Spelling Bee.


The Lady Eagles presented an impenetrable front when they easily defeated Carlsbad for the district championship on Feb. 26.



Shay Reimers and the rest of the Eagles overcame hands to the face to defeat Carlsbad on Feb. 24 and earn the right to advance to the district championship game.

Edison and Will Rogers fourth and fifth-graders got a chance to learn some new moves when Santa Fe's National Dance Institute came to town Feb. 14-18 for a week-long residency.





The junior class demonstrated remarkable flexibility when they won the banana passing contest during a Feb. 16 pep rally.

Freshman High School teachers toured their new $30 million campus on Feb. 16. They'll welcome more than 600 students when the building opens for business in August.


Southern Heights fifth-graders , who spent the wek of Feb. 7-11 studying the Founding Fathers, presented a performance on Feb. 11.



BTW students portrayed important characters in African American history when they celebrated Black History month on Feb. 10.



As usual, the annual basketball showdown against Clovis proved to be somewhat contentious, even for Coach Russ Gilmore. The Eagles unfortuately lost Round 1 of the matchup on Feb. 5.


The boys 200-medley relay team set a district and team record when they won the event during the Feb. 5 district swim meet in Hobbs.
