Tydings Auditorium

The Hobbs Municipal Schools R.N. Tydings Auditorium is a facility where the community can come hear quality speakers or experience a live performing arts experience.  The R.N. Tydings Auditorium accommodates a wide range of opportunities in lectureships, music, theatre arts and dance presentations.  The facility is a historic landmark in Hobbs, New Mexico and has undergone many renovations to keep it one of the first class performance arts venues in the region. 

The auditorium seats up to 2000 people but can also accommodate smaller audiences of 250. 

There are other rooms available during events including 

  • Small Band Room 
  • Band Hall 
  • Choir Room 
  • Green Room 
  • 100 Wing 
  • Little Theatre 

Internet is available throughout the facility.

The Hobbs Municipal Schools Training Center is a facility where teachers and administration can come for instruction to diligently work towards mastering the art of education.   The HMS Training Center accommodates a wide range of training opportunities in arts, math, mentoring, music, physical education, reading, science, special education and technology.  The facility is built with the latest presentation equipment incorporated into two conference rooms.  

We have a large conference room that seats up to 120 people and a smaller conference room and fine arts center that seats 30 people and is equipped for training in hands-on activities.

Each room is outfitted with the Smart Classroom System which includes laptop computers, audio/visual equipment, internet, ceiling mounted projectors, and retractable projection screens.  Internet is available throughout the facility. 

Rooms are available for rent (special restrictions apply). Catering is available by Hobbs Municipal Schools Nutritional Services 575-433-0220.
