Math

The Hobbs Municipal Schools has the following aspirations for all math classes:

  1. Rigorous, standards-based instruction.

  2. Problem-based Learning and Visual Learning to help deepen conceptual understanding of mathematics.

  3. Introduce concepts through problem solving experiences.

  4. Facilitate rich classroom conversations that promote a growth mindset and result in deeper conceptual understanding.

  5. Activities, at least once per Topic, to focus on mathematical modeling and communication.

  6. Lesson-specific instructional support promotes language development including support for Academic Vocabulary. Encourage students to take control of their own learning by identifying which strategies work best for them.

Accelerated Academic Summer Immersion (A2SI)

  1. Designed to prepare students for entry into a rigorous course of study that affords talented mathematics students the opportunity to accelerate their
    learning.

  2. Enables students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential to success in Advanced Placement (AP) and college courses.
