Language Arts
The Hobbs Municipal School District strives to ensure that all students succeed academically, socially, and personally. It is the English Language Arts department’s responsibility to provide rigorous, appropriate, and challenging curriculum to ensure that this success is achieved by all students.
The ELA department and its teachers demonstrate:
A clear and deep understanding of the curriculum’s framework.
The means of distributing knowledge to students in order to allow application of understanding and the retrieval of it.
Giving all students the ability to learn effectively and without barriers.
Encouraging all students to take control of their own learning process.
The capacity of continuing with professional development in order to bring the newest opportunities for student learning.
Using different teaching methods from digital to hands on activities for a variety of learning.
Facilitating oral academic conversation and collaboration in the classroom in order to allow for deeper critical thinking and problem-solving opportunities.
Instruction on how to communicate successfully by learning to organize, apply proper grammar, diction, tone, and syntax to their writing.
Give the students the opportunity to research educational topics in order to contribute to academic conversation and writing.
