I am Elaine Woodall and I teach math at Houston Middle School.

I grew up I grew up in Brown City, Mich., and graduated from Brown City High School and later graduated from Madonna University.

The reason I want to teach is because teaching saved my life.  In high school I was going through a lot with my Mom's sickness and death.  School became my escape from the stress at home and motivated me to achieve great things and overcome my obstacles. One teacher in particular made herself aware of my situation and was a huge support to me.  This teacher inspired me to become a teacher.

My favorite memory from my own days in school is when when I competed in a "Mock Rock" in front of the school and our group "rocked it.”

In my spare time I read, go for a walk, spend time with friends, watch movies and listen to music.

My favorite book is Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann.  It is an awesome book that tells a story about a tight rope walker who walked between the Twin Towers.  It is told from the perspective of various characters whose stories converge while they watch the tight rope walker.
