uehlingHobbs schools is proud to introduce its new teachers to our community. Look for a profile on a new instructor here on a regular basis.

I am Douglas Uehling and I teach English at Hobbs High School.

I grew up in Wanatah, Indiana and graduated from Valparaiso High School. I later graduated from Valparaiso University.

The reason I want to teach is because I believe teaching to be a calling.  Introducing new perspectives and modes of thinking is an engaging experience that I genuinely feel passionate towards. Interacting with students and colleagues about my subject areas is something that never grows old. Put simply, teaching is something which I love and look forward to doing each and every day.

My favorite memory from my own days in school is when that particular teacher took me aside and expressed a belief and interest in me as a student and person.

In my spare time I like to watch baseball, read and work out.

My favorite book is Albert Camus' The Plague
