Leslyn Lang

Hobbs schools is proud to introduce its new teachers to our community. Look for a profile on a new instructor here on a regular basis.

I am:  Leslyn Lang and I teach 7th grade at Houston Middle School.

langI grew up: Around the country.  My father was military so we moved a lot.  I spent from 5th grade to 12th grade in Kent, Wa.  I graduated from Kent-Meridian High School and later from the University of Idaho-Moscow with two bachelor’s degrees. I then graduated from Concordia University-Portland with my Master's degree.

The reason I want to teach is to: I want to share whatever knowledge I have.

My favorite  memory from my own school days: I got to do fun stuff with my three best friends.  We had such a fun time.  I really liked many of my teachers and learned a lot.

In my spare time I: visit geological sites around the state. I love history. I used to go out and locate old historical cemeteries, take pictures and post to the Internet so anyone looking for it could find it.  The oldest cemetery I found was from the 1600s.  I love puzzles and detective work.  I also maintain two genealogy websites for Spotsylvania County and the City of Fredericksburg.  I designed them both.

My favorite book is: anything by John Sandord or James Patterson.  I also like Dylan Willams books and Harry Wong books.
