Longtime HMS teacher Veronica Arguello has moved from the bilingual classroom into the principal’s office.
Arguello was promoted to principal at Stone Elementary following the summer resignation of the former principal, Ann Moore. “Stone has a wonderful reputation and they have great traditions and culture here,” Arguello said on Monday morning as teachers reported to work. “I’m anxious to get school started."
Arguello, a HMS employee for 15 years, was a Broadmoor bilingual teacher for the past 10 years. She began her career with the district as a paraprofessional at The Learning Center, then went to work as a Broadmoor paraprofessional while she attended college at University of the Southwest – where she attained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Arguello grew up in Hobbs but moved for a short time during high school before returning to her hometown.
She said she’s excited to bring her bilingual skills to Stone, where she hopes to build on existing tradition and culture.
