A total of 17 Hobbs High School seniors are in the running for Homecoming king and queen.  Nominated by clubs or teams, the king and queen and their two attendants, - as voted upon by their classmates -  will be crowned at halftime of the Sept. 3 Homecoming Eagles football game.  Nominees and those who will escort them during an upcoming HHS assembly include:

mugAvree Arnold, a HHS band major and National Honor Society member,  was nominated by the band.  She is the daughter of Jeff and Tiah Arnold. Avree will be escorted by Oscar Mojica, the son of Fred and Crystal Mojica.

 

 

mugMarisa Felix, the daughter of Fili and Maria Felix, was nominated by HHS student council. A varsity cheerleader, Marisa will be escorted by Landon De Los Santos, son of Ramon and Aimee De Los Santos.

 

 

mugAlexa Sanchez is the Lady Eagles soccer mugteam nominee. She is the daughter of Jorge Sanchez and Anabel Salcido and will be escorted by Aldo Argott, the HHS Football team king nominee.  He is the son of Dora Argott.

 

 

mugMariana Gonzalez Lozano, the daughter of Cruz Gonzalez and Janticia Lozano,  is the National Honor Society nominee.  Mariana is president of the HHS student body and also is a member of student council, the yearbook staff, Teen Court, Speak Love Antibullying and Hobbs Dual Credit Academy.  She will be escorted by Joshua Garcia, the son of Jose Garcia and Brenda Limas.  

 

mugDelaine Velasco is the FFA nominee. Delaine,  the daughter of Norma Velasco and Homero Velasco, serves as FFA vice president. She will be escorted by Lonnie Harrison, the son of Christina Harrison and Lonnie Harrison.

 

 
mugThe Color Guard nominee is Veronica Moriel, the daughter of Adela and Jesus Moriel.  In addition to serving as a Color Guard section leader, Veronica is enrolled in New Mexico Junior College pre-nursing courses.  She will be escorted by Ja’suan Davis, the son of Telana Davis.   

 

 
mugKamryn Cantu is nominated by the Lady Eagle volleyball team.  She is the daughter of Pedro Cantu and Irene Jimenez. Kamryn also plays softball for and has been a two-sport athlete for five years. She will be escorted by Caelan Pando, the son of Joel Pando.  

 


mugAnnie Rosa was nominated by the yearbook staff. She is the daughter of Erika Rosa.  Annie is enrolled in Hobbs Dual Credit Academy.  She is escorted by Gabriel Garcia, the son of Angel and Melissa Garcia.

 


mugTaylor Holdridge is nominated by Hobbs High Theatre.  She is the daughter of Coy Holdridge and Robin McCann. She will be escorted by Joshua Abney, the son of Kristopher and Barbara Abney.  

 


mugJalee Navarrette, the cheerleader nominee, is the daughter of Christie and Rick Navarrette.  In addition to being a cheerleader, Jalee also is in competitive cheer.  She will be escorted by Jalen Goar, the son of Charles and Michele Goar.  

 


mugThe SkillsUSA nominee is Sara Rados.  She is the daughter of Robert and Peggy Rados.  In addition to SkillsUSA, Sara is a member of the swim team, National Honor Society, NMJC, Mu Alpha Theta and Phi Kappa Theta.  She will be escorted by Charlie Seed, son of Chris Seed and Christina Daniels.

 


mugCeleste Oaxaca is the cross country team’s nominee.  She is the daughter of Manuel and Patricia Oaxaca. Celeste is also a member of the track and field team. She will be escorted by Alec Llamas, the son of Ruben and Lori Llamas.  

 


mugBryan Valdez is the Eagles soccer team nominee.  In addition to soccer, he is a Powerlifting team meeting.  Bryan is the son of Idaly Valdez. He will be escorted by Danielle Rodriguez, the daughter of Susan Rodriguez.  

 


mugNemo Hernandez was nominated by the band. Also a swim team member, he is the son of Roger Hernandez and Victoria Hernandez and will be escorted by MiKaya Hodge, the daughter of TiKisha Smith.

 


mugEaston Kuykendall is a student council nominee. Also a player on the football and baseball teams, he is the son of Lloyd and Lisa Kuykendall.  His escort will be Jazmin Gallegos, the daughter of Victor and Veronica Gallegos.

 


mugSeth Lackey is a National Honor Society nominee.  He is the son of James and Tanya Lackey. Seth, who is enrolled in the Hobbs Dual Credit Academy, is also a varsity golfer.  He will be escorted by Breelynn Proctor, the daughter of Danny and Misty Miller.

 


Manuel Mata was nominated by the cross country team. Manuel, the son of Manuel Mata, Leandsy Pinon and Ashley Villa, also is a track and field team member. He will be  escorted by Jaidan Salazar, the daughter of Fernando and Melody Salazar
