Stone fifth-grader Ishana Sarakanti (left) successfully defended her district  spelling title from last year after winning the Lea County bee in a spell-off with second-place finisher Mariaj Mojica, a Broadmoor fourth-grader, at Tuesday night's event. Taylor's Kashis Gonzales finished in third place, giving Hobbs elementary schools a district sweep in the bee.
