Heizer Middle School students tested helmet materials on Monday, part of a lesson to determine the most suitable material for preventing concussions.

Preparing their helmet for a test drop to determine if it will sustain a blow  are Marcus Ayala and Abrahan Mercado. The foil constructed helmet protected paint balls the students had inserted inside it, earning them a top score in Wendy Haggerton's introduction to engineering class.

PED
A technician adjusts a microphone pack for Highland teacher Erica Armstrong while a 360-degree camera  films in Lisa Enriquez Edison classroom on Monday morning. Videographers from the PED were in town to film the two teachers who were selected for the filming process based on student achievement data and excellent observation scores. The video will be viewed by teachers around the state as a way to model instruction in their own classrooms.

christmasMembers of the HHS National Honor Society and swim team paired with special education students to sign more than 200 Christmas cards which will be mailed to American soldiers stationed overseas. The students delivered the cards to the VFW on Monday.

Jefferson students who have spent the past three months benefiting from after-school programs funded by a federal grant put on a display of what they've learned for parents on Thursday night.
